Volunteering opportunities

Alderbury FC prides itself on having a vibrant volunteer force where everybody strives to ensure we maximise our potential and be the best we can be. The families who have entrusted us to provide grassroots football for their children deserve nothing less than an engaged and enthusiastic volunteer force to support them.

We are always looking for volunteers to help run the club, and welcome applications from all.

J002 - Volunteer Development Officer – Mini Soccer

As a grassroots football club, Alderbury FC needs to have a strong intake of new players  each year between the ages of 5 and 7.  We are also reliant on parents volunteering to help coach these age group and we are looking for someone to maximise this annual intake.


Job profile:

  • Organise and market an annual summer ‘taster event’ for the new intake each season

  • Organise and market a two day Easter Holiday Soccer School and a two day Summer Holiday Soccer School for children in the local area;

This will involve marketing and promotion to relevant audiences such as local schools.  It will also involve liaison with Alderbury FC coaches to find volunteers to help with coaching and supervision at these events.


Required/desirable qualifications:

  • FA Level 2 (or a commitment to obtain this qualification within 18 months)

  • FA Licensed Coach

  • 3 years’ experience coaching youth/mini soccer

J003 - Volunteer Coach Mentor

Alderbury FC prides itself on having a technically excellent group of coaches delivering training in a fun and safe environment. We recognise that the role of a coach covers many areas and functions and that our coaching force needs support in order to run teams effectively.


Job profile:

  • To support the development of coaches

  • To develop and deliver a programme of support for coaches

  • Work with youth and mini coaches where help and assistance is requested, or identified by the committee

  • Mentor and advise youth and mini coaches


Required/desirable qualifications:

  • FA Level 2

  • FA Licensed coach

  • 3 years’ experience coaching youth and mini soccer


J004 - Volunteer Facilities Manager

The maintenance and replenishment of our facilities is vitally important in ensuring the smooth running of the football club.  We need a volunteer to undertake various tasks required in order to keep our facilities in good working order.


Job profile:

  • To organise an annual stock-take of equipment and replace faulty items*

  • To periodically check equipment to ensure it is in good working order and if necessary replace or repair faulty equipment*

  • To organise an annual risk assessment of all club sites and report the outcome to the  committee along with an action plan

  • To liaise with the club’s groundsman regarding any pitch requirements, including but not limited to, pitch marking, grass cutting, pitch maintenance

  • To deal with any ad-hoc facilities/equipment concerns as and when they arise

 *spend of over £100 in respect of any single item requires approval from the committee



J005 - Volunteer Fundraising Coordinator(s)

This is an important role that will help the football club to attract financial support and donations so we can continually improve our facilities and keep costs to a minimum.


Job profile:

  • To develop and implement a strategy for increasing corporate sponsorship

  • To assist teams and their coaches with fundraising ideas and initiatives

  • To develop and implement a strategy for increasing grant based funding to the club
